Building Physics Specialist - Glasgow
We currently have an opening for a Building Physics Specialist who is looking to progress their career with an established building services practice.
You will be an integral part of a multi-disciplined team working on a variety of projects covering all sectors within the construction industry. The position will be within our Glasgow office situated at Mariner House, Watermark Business Park, Govan, Glasgow.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform Internal and Outdoor thermal comfort studies and analysis.
- Be actively involved in MEP/HVAC equipment option review, sizing and optimisation.
- Be able to undertake natural ventilation analysis.
- Undertake building regulation (Section 6 and Part L) compliance assessments.
- Understanding and managing project specific certification and targets with a range of sustainability rating tools such as BREEAM, WELL, LEED and SKA.
- Undertake building massing and orientation studies.
- Provide training and support to other internal team members.
- Work competently on an independent basis or as part of a wider team and be responsible for reporting to line manager.
- Communicate directly with other design team members, including attendance at meetings, where required to suit project needs and sustainable design solutions and targets.
- Manage your own workload to suit project deadlines and requirements.
- Establish and maintain a good working relationship with internal and external design team members.
- Be actively involved in compliance with RSP Business Management Systems.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience and working knowledge of an MEP environment on multi-disciplinary projects.
- Accredited BREEAM, LCC and LCEA assessor.
- Good and confident communication skills.
- Knowledge and understanding of relevant industry design software (i.e IES VE, Grasshopper, Rhino).
- The candidate should demonstrate a strong work ethic and a drive to uphold company values and a personal pride and commitment in the delivered information to the Client, Design and Construction Teams.
Requirements:
- Valid UK Driving Licence.
- Willingness to do overtime, when and if required.
- Must be prepared to travel within the UK. This may involve early morning starts, late finishes and occasionally overnight stays.
